Coal

There is certain constants throughout the Bible. One of them being the reaction of man when he comes in the presence of God.

Have you ever heard that song “I can only imagine” Imagine what it will be like when we stand before God? Well truth is we don’t have to imagine, because time and time again in the Bible we see what happens.

Man falls on his face. There is an overwhelming, most obvious, rush of self-realization that we are in need of mercy before a Holy God….. now here is the kicker. These men and women that fall on their face before God, these are some of the most well-respected men and women of the Bible. These are those after Gods own heart, those that have spoken great words in the name of God, and stepped out in huge leaps of faith.

Yet they still find themselves saying much like Isaiah said…..

Isaiah 6:5-7

“There is no hope for me! I am doomed because every word that passes my lips is sinful, and I live among a people whose every word is sinful. And yet, with my own eyes I have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.”  Then one of the creatures flew down to me, carrying a burning coal that he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. He touched my lips with the burning coal and said, “This has touched your lips, and now your guilt is gone, and your sins are forgiven.”
