The scriptures tell a story of a man Nathanael. Upon hearing the news of the coming Christ “Jesus of Nazareth” his response was this.
“Can anything good come from Nazareth”?
This is a question we still ask ourselves today. Every-time we go through pain and suffering, every time things don’t work out the way that we had planned, every time a wrench is thrown into our lives. Our response is just like Nathanael’s, “Can any good come from this”?
2000 years ago Nazareth was a little town that was probably left off of most maps. Nazareth didn’t produce Kings, and scholars. It didn’t have the best restaurants and attractions of some of the bigger cities. The kind of people that Nazareth produced were farmers, woodworkers, and day laborers. If a savior was going to come from anywhere Nazareth would be the last place anyone would look.
How often in our own lives do we dismiss the very thing that is out to help us, just because it’s wrapped in a different package?
How often do the best things in life come from the most unexpected places, unexpected people, and unexpected circumstances?
Can any good come from this…… what do you think?
